There is always an opportunity to get involved in a Rotary Project. Below is the upcoming schedule from the Projects Committee. For more information you can contact the Projects Committee Co-Chairs Diane Kelleher or Gil Quante, or the Project lead as noted below.  Please let them know if you have an idea for a project as well.
November - December 12- Giving Tree - Miriam Barnett and Pat Steel
November 21-In Meeting Project-Sharon Chambers-Gordon
November 23-EFN Break Bags
December 14-EFN Break Bags
December 20-Salvation Army Bell Ringing-Ann Voves
We have something for everyone in our list of upcoming projects.  Our next project happening after a meeting will be this week when we will be packing 200 hygiene bags for Raising Girls. Your Projects Committee is working with the Interact Committee to have the students from Life Christian join us at the EFN Break Bag event on November 23 (they have over a dozen students signed up!) We have far exceeded the 25 volunteers needed...many hands make light work! Sign up sheets for Bell-Ringing for the Salvation Army will be on the tables this week!
Raising Girls Is Right Around the Corner
The bins and boxes are packed and ready to haul to the Yacht Club (thanks Andy Laycock!) Friday afternoon Sharon Chambers-Gordon, Di Trenh, Carol Webster (and Chris) , Gil Quante and Rusty Hersey prepared the 30+ boxes and bins that you will help us pack into bags for girls in our Tacoma schools served by Raising Girls. What a great way to end our meeting on Gratitude.  Please plan to be there!
The Giving Tree
WOW - JUST WOW! Tacoma 8 Rotary members are the most generous community members. All of the ornaments have been claimed, although I am sure each of the agencies we are working with would still take an extra gift card or two, if you haven't had a chance to sign up. The back of the ornament says when to return the gifts, unwrapped please. You can return them at meetings or to the office until December 12! Thank you for helping to make the holidays bright for children you will never know, but who will be so grateful.  Gifts this year will go to children at the YWCA domestic violence shelter, Tacoma Rescue Mission’s Adams Family Campus, and Catholic Community Services.  Thank you for your generosity and care for others during the holidays!

We had a group from our club join in with other Pierce County Rotary clubs to assemble hundreds of bicycles for children in need. Special thanks to Elaine ChanJacki Farrar, Gil Quante and Jennifer Weddermann.  A special shout out to Stacey Ogle who traveled to participate, but couldn't find the crew. What a great group of members who were up early Saturday, 11-9 to be People of Action!

It was another great Thursday at 5. Guests were busy mingling, enjoying a fully stocked bar, and delicious nibbles and a great little party favor!   Members also cleared all of the remaining gift tags off the Giving Tree. What amazing members we  have!! We celebrated the 15th  birthday of the Convention Center with a cake (they did not make us sing) but they did ask Jim Merritt and Rodger Benson, an architect who worked on the building  with Jim 15 years, ago to do the honors of cutting the cake. (thanks to Sharon Chambers-Gordon for taking a few pictures!)
