VOL. NINETY FIVE,  Issue 25
Holiday Program featuring Renata & Jacob!

It's the most wonderful time of the year....when we can enjoy learning about the holiday traditions of our wonderful Exchange Students, Renata and Jacob.  Wait there is more!  You will be inspired, engaged and entertained, by our very own Rotary talent. For those of you who are Cougars, remember you will be serving apple pie to the Husky faithful as both teams prepare for their holiday bowl games.  Join us this Thursday for our last lunch meeting of 2018!

2018 CHARITABLE DONATIONS AND ACCOUNTING INFORMATION

Outstanding pledge statements are being sent at year end. If you have any questions regarding your accounts please contact Joy at the Rotary Office.  At this time of year, many members decide to make year-end donations.  If you are interested in giving to the Tacoma Rotary Foundation or to the club’s fundraising account we must have your check or credit card number for processing by noon on December 31.  We are just a little short of where we were last year with gifts to support Project Greater Good. Please consider joining with the 127 members who have already made a pledge!
If you would like to make a donation to Rotary International Foundation please contact them directly here. If you are sending a check it must be postmarked on December 31 in order for it to count as a 2018 donation. Their mailing address is:

2018 Toys for Kids Shopping Night

It was a late night and some shoppers were still searching for that perfect gift at 2 A.M. and so probably were not awake to see the early morning news coverage on KING 5 and Q13 about the great work they were doing. Special thanks to the night owl shoppers and elves.   Jackie Farrar, Sally Glover, Diane Kelleher, Cindy Niemi, Christina Turner, Amanda Weidman, Kirsten Willis, Kathi Willis and Dr. John Winskill. Sally Glover and Gil Quante joined Christina Turner on Friday to help hand out the packages! There will be over 250 happy faces this holiday season thanks to this great project.

Our Board of Directors recently ratified a new Club Constitution in the mandatory, standard form required by Rotary International.  Because each club around the world is unique, however, the language of the Rotary International standard club constitution permits clubs to establish Bylaws that reflect local practice.  We have a committee now working to update our Bylaws; those proposed changes will be presented to the Board and to the club in the new year.  You can find our new Club Constitution on our website.  If you have any questions about the new Club Constitution, feel free to contact the office or Mark Anderson

Upcoming Socials
The Fellowship/Relationship Building Committee invites all members of Tacoma #8 to join them on Thursdays at 5 pm. These socials are a great way to meet some new Rotarians or catch up with old friends. Pandakas, these meetings will fulfill your "social" requirement prior to graduation and, for all members, it’s fun.

Another Great Thursday at 5
We had another great meeting at Goodwill last week. Thanks so much to our hosts Lori Harnick and Mike Shields. We learned about the many programs they offer including a culinary program whose students and teachers provided the delicious refreshments. If you missed the meeting and want to support their training visit the Neighborhood Bistro at the Goodwill Milgard Center. They are open Mon-Thursday from 11-4 or support their barista program and visit their coffee shop Buzz Cafe in the Reach Center.
