We have invited the candidates for this very important office to join us to share their information and answer previously prepared questions.

Art Wickens Fellows
We will be honoring our newest group of Art Wickens Fellows this week as we present awards to the following members; Jeff Albers, Christian Anderson, Mike Dunbar, Jake Fey, David Flentge, Joe Gordon, Jim & Enid Harris, Daryl Hembry, Ed Hill, Rob Novasky, Harry Pritchard, Charley Rance, Carlyn Roy, Ray Schuler, Larry Treleven and Buck Thompson.  For all of  you who are Fellows already, please  be sure to wear your pin!
World Polio Day
Since Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative 30 years ago in (1988) the incidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000 cases a year to just 22 cases in all of 2017.  To sustain this progress and protect all children from Polio, Rotary has committed to raising  $50 million per year in support of global polio eradication efforts.  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match Rotary’s commitment 2 for 1.  Without full funding and political commitment, this paralyzing disease could return to previously polio-free countries, and put children everywhere at risk. Rotary has contributed more than $1.8 billion to ending polio since 1985.  Celebrate World Polio Day on October 24!
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

We had the opportunity to welcome two new members on October 4.  John Douville from Windermere Professional Partners , introduced by Barry Benson and Byron Okutsu from Multicare, introduced by Cindy Niemi.  Both John and Byron have already worked side by side with many of our members as they volunteered on club projects and from their introductions it is easy to see that they will both be wonderful new members. Be sure to introduce yourself and welcome John and Byron to the club the next time you see them.

Mark your calendar for the first meeting at the Yacht Club on November 1.  Robin Echtle reminded members of the move and advised us that in moving to a new venue we will have the challenge of providing them with an expected lunch count every week. As we make this transition we will be asking members to RSVP to our weekly meetings.  We have found the Thursdays at 5 RSVP process is working well and we will use something similar.  Try out this link to register now! You will see the option to pick a blue button that says Guest or one that says Member.  If you select Member, you will be taken to a page where you need to enter your ClubRunner login and password, if you select Guest then you have to fill in your name and some additional information.  We do not want the RSVP to be a barrier and every member is always welcome to join us at every meeting, but we need to know that there will be plenty of food, without incurring the kind of expense we have had at the Landmark. That first meeting we will be celebrating our veterans and will be joined by Chamber of Commerce members to honor their Military Citizen of the Year. This will be a popular meeting as always, and we know you all want to check out the Yacht Club.  The cost for lunch will be $21 and for those who just want coffee and dessert the cost will be $6.  Stayed tuned for more information as we work out the details!

Our Fall Firesides are coming up on October 23,and we received great early responses at the meetings.  Please consider being a host and sign up at our upcoming meetings.  This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other members in a small group setting. Linda Kaye will be sure to provide us with a thought provoking question. If you won't be at a meeting contact the office or Maria Harlow at maria_harlow@outlook.com to sign up.

Thanks to several members, but especially  Jon Murray (and his family) we are half way to our goal of 300 books for early readers!  Pick up a new or gently used book when you are out shopping for candy for Halloween and bring it to the office soon.

Tickets are $17 each, and we will have sign up sheets on the tables at an upcoming meeting.
Thursdays at 5!!
Thanks to all of the members who were able to join us at Cole Graphic Solutions.  The hospitality was first rate and I am sure everyone left knowing a little more about the variety of work done by Stacey and her talented crew!  We also had plenty of time to socialize and chat.  Another unique opportunity for club members!
