Science Olympiad

It's that time of year again when we need to recruit volunteers to assist us on Saturday, January 12, at Curtis Middle School for the Science Olympiad.  We will need 15-20 members who can assist us with a variety of tasks.  Writing tests (prior to the event) event registration and proctoring at the event.  Please contact Gil Quante at deskset2@me.com if you can help.  We will also have sign up sheets available at upcoming meetings.  Thanks to those who signed up already - Cynthia Darland, Diane  Kelleher, Roger Lilley, Rob Pfarr, Gil Quante and Jim Whitacre.
Welcome to our newest member

Di Trenh
Di was introduced by his sponsor Stacey Ogle at our meeting on December 20.  He works for Bank of America as an AVP in Business Banking.  With his clever introduction we learned that his name is pronounced "D" and his family emigrated to Seattle from China 28 years ago and have owned a restaurant where Di started working at an early age.  We learned that the number 8 is very lucky in the Chinese Culture, and we are lucky that Di has chosen to join our club. He and his wife and  3 year old daughter live in Puyallup. Be sure and ask him about his daughters resume when you introduce yourself!
The Pandaka committee would like to thank the following individuals for jumping in to mentor our new members. We truly appreciate you! If you would like to mentor a new member (we have a lot in the pipeline) please reach out to Amanda Weidman at Amanda.savage22@gmail.com.
Barry Benson, Jan Brazzell, Linda Kaye Briggs, Brien Elvins, Whitney Grisaffi, Maria Harlow,  Jim Henderson, Harrison Laird, Monique Nadeau, Gil Quante, Elliot Stockstad, Carol Webster, Jim Whitacre and Kirsten Willis

Rotary Happenings for December 27

The office was open, but a little bit slow
Compared to all others when we scramble, you know
The helpers arrived to offer some aid
They rolled up their sleeves and a dent was sure made
We tossed some old stuff and books we did label
Those wonderful members were quick and quite able
You found us that evening enjoying a treat
As Rotarians were filling up seat after seat
We watched Chris perform and enjoyed a great night
Spending time with Rotarians is such a delight
Thanks to each one of you for all that you do
You make life better for more than a few!

With a grateful heart,

Write  it on your heart that every day is the best day in the new year. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
