Learn the key tools on how to engage in civil dialog when faced with disagreements and receive information on The Center’s work to make this a reality in our community.
Maralise, and her husband Julio (former Rotary 8 member), chose to “retire” in Tacoma because 20 years ago Tacoma was internationally known for successful community response to violence. Since 2007, Maralise has brought her academic interests of conflict resolution, international relations, anthropology, and law to her work as the Executive Director of the Center for Dialog & Resolution. She shares her enthusiasm for lifelong learning and her curiosity about what motivates each of us to help make our community a better place. Her background with Julio at the United Nations University for Peace Conflict Resolution Program and the years of work in violent settings, brings an optimistic approach that encourages us all to be better!

OFFICE MOVE TO THE ARMORY - PHASE ONE & TWO
Our office space is still being worked on, but we have 200 square feet of storage available. On Presidents Day, Monday, February 18, we have rounded up some volunteers to meet at the office at the Landmark at 11 to begin our move of shelves, boxes, bins and other miscellaneous items. If you are reading this in time to help please join with the following folks; Barry Benson, Jackie Flowers, Cindy Grady, Harrison Laird, Melissa Malott, Stacey Ogle, Byron Okutsu, Di Trenh and Kirsten Willis.
Our lease at the Landmark ends on 2-28, so we will hopefully be able to move all of the furniture over to the Armory on either Friday 3-1 or Saturday 3-2. Stay tuned for more details!

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
On February 7 we welcomed transferring member Jackie Flowers and new member Tim Smith to the club. Jackie is a Past President of the Club in Idaho Falls and has been a Rotarian for over 10 years. Jackie moved to Tacoma to become the Director/CEO of Tacoma Public Utilities. We are honored to have her continue her Rotary service in our club. Tim was introduced by his sponsor Stacey Ogle. He is the Director of Operations at Custom Impressions. Tim lives in Tacoma with his wife and 3 children and looks forward to participating in club activities. Be sure say hello and invite these great new members to join your committee.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Harrison Laird, and the Membership Committee announced that so far this year we have added 26 amazing new members, but they don't want us resting on our laurels. They have challenged club members to help us grow our membership by 45 new members this year. If you have a prospective member please invite them to join you for lunch, the club will host them for their first visit. Please register your guest online or with the office and pick up the membership packet when you come to the meeting. We need to include guests in our meal count to the Yacht Club. There are incentives for you as well. Any member who proposes a new member will be entered into a drawing for a weekend at Cedarbrook and will receive a restaurant discount coupon. Give the gift of Rotary to someone you know!
