About Tacoma #8

The Rotary Club of Tacoma #8 was organized early in 1910 after insurance agent Harry Pelletier attended a meeting of Seattle Rotary #4. With the Seattle club's assistance, the first meeting of the Tacoma chapter was held on January 29, 1910. The club was incorporated on February 2, 1910 and the new Tacoma chapter became the 8th club in the world of Rotary International.

Seventy members were listed in the club's roster in 1910. Today, the membership has grown to more than 400 members who are part of a diverse group of professional leaders working to address various community and international service needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world. Our members are our most important asset. They are the force that allows Rotary to carry out its many humanitarian efforts and achieve its mission.
